OAK RIDGE (WATE) - Roane State Community College will soon have a new building at its Oak Ridge campus.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday for the college's new "Allied Health Sciences and Technology" building.

The 64,000-square foot building will offer medical programs including surgical and lab technology.

"Community College Roane State does a wonderful job especially in the healthcare field of producing graduates that really and truly help our community," said State Rep. John Ragan (R)Oak Ridge District 33.

The cost of the project is estimated at $13.8 million.

Roane State has campuses throughout East Tennessee and has approximately 6,800 students.
