MARYVILLE (WATE) - Ruby Tuesday, Inc. announced Wednesday that founder and Chairman of the Board Sandy Beall will step down from management and the board.
Beall also serves as CEO and president of the chain. He'll continue to serve in his management positions until a successor is named, according to a press release.
A committee of the board will oversee the process to name the next CEO. That committee plans to retain an executive search firm and begin a search process immediately.
This year will complete Ruby Tuesday's 40th fiscal year.
Beall opened the first Ruby Tuesday in 1972 in Knoxville, near the campus of the University of Tennessee.
Today, the company owns and operates 740 Ruby Tuesday restaurants and franchises 85 restaurants.
