KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An Alcoa man was killed Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash on Alcoa Highway.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on the southbound side of Alcoa Highway near Gov. John Sevier Highway.

Authorities say an SUV driven by Kevin McMahon, 49, crashed into the back of a car as they were merging onto Alcoa Highway. The SUV crossed the median and collided head-on with a box truck.

Witnesses pulled McMahon from the SUV and started CPR. He was taken to UT Medical Center and pronounced dead.

A passenger in the SUV, along with the driver of the car and two people in the box truck were all treated at hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

First responders say it's likely McMahon suffered a medical problem that may have led to the crash.
