NEW TAZEWELL (WATE) - A New Tazewell man is charged with TennCare fraud for allegedly selling prescription drugs paid for by the program.

Ernest Brown, 58, was arrested after a joint investigation with the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office and the Office of Inspector General.

Brown is charged with one count of TennCare fraud, two counts of sale of a Schedule II controlled substance and two counts of delivery of Schedule II controlled substance. 

He's accused of getting morphine with TennCare benefits and planning to sell a portion of it.

TennCare fraud is a Class E felony carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison.

The sale of and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance is a Class E felony. It's punishable by three to six years in prison per charge.
