ALCOA (WATE) - A motorcyclist from Maryville was killed Friday morning when he collided with a tractor trailer in Alcoa.

Police said Nicholas Andrew Lovoy, 25, of Jefferson Avenue in Maryville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Hall Road near Associates Boulevard.

The tractor trailer driver, Ronald Jonathan Weedman, 30, of Sparta, was going northbound on Hall Road, past Associates Boulevard, at 5:50 a.m. when he tried to make a left U-turn.

Lovoy laid down his 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle and slid into the side of the tractor trailer.

Police said Lovoy was wearing a helmet.

Weedman wasn't injured during the collision. The tractor trailer is owned by TLD Logistics Services of Knoxville.
