GATLINBURG (WATE) - The Gatlinburg Police Department is warning businesses about a utility scam.
Police say a scammer using the name Jay Shephard has been calling businesses saying their electricity is about to be turned off due to non-payment.
The caller gives the phone number for Sevier County Electric System as a call back number.
The businesses should not give any debit or credit card numbers to the caller.
