NEWPORT (WATE) - Financial assistance is still needed for World War II veteran Clarence Cody who lives alone in Cocke County. The 87-year-old widower suffers from congestive heart disease.

6 On Your Side reported two months ago that the Veterans Administration turned down Clarence's request for a power chair lift that would fit onto his van.

Without the lift, it's tough for his care giver to get him where he needs to go.

Viewers called saying they'd like to help Clarence get the device. 6 On Your Side has found a lift and identified a non-profit group that wants to help.

If you'd like to donate, contact:

U.S. Citizens Aiding Veterans
108 French Lane
Oliver Springs, Tennessee 37840

Although the group and viewers have donated money, Clarence is still several thousand dollars short of what's needed.
