Man charged with burglary of Knox County middle school

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police arrested and charged a man Monday night for the burglary of a Knox County middle school.

Officers responded to Vine Middle School, 1807 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, at 11:07 p.m.

They found the suspect, Xavier Townes, 19, and took him into custody near the front of the property.

Police say during questioning Townes told them where he hid a bag just before he was detained.  The bag had a projector marked as property of Knox County Schools Special Education.

Townes is charged with one count of burglary. He's being held on a $5,000 bond.

Police say he told them he's on probation for burglary.
