NEWPORT (WATE) - Authorities have charged a pair of suspects with murder, arson and several other charges in the slayings of a Cocke County couple and their toddler son.
The Cocke County Grand Jury on Monday indicted Adam Lawton Edwards, 43, and Marsha Gail Shelton, 29, on: three counts of first degree murder, three counts of felony murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated child abuse, aggravated arson, theft of property over $1,000 and theft of property over $500.
The pair is accused of killing Terri Henderson, Sherman Ellison, and their son, Riley, in Hartford on May 26. Their bodies were found at the scene of their mobile home fire.
Edwards was a neighbor of the victims at one time, according to the Cocke County Sheriff's Office.
Officers caught Edwards and Shelton on May 29 in North Carolina in the Cherokee National Forest.
Edwards was ordered back to prison last week after pleading guilty to a probation violation in Sevier County.
