KINGSTON (WATE) - The parents of a two-year-old Roane County boy who starved to death in May were indicted Monday on first degree murder charges, according to District Attorney General Russell Johnson.

The Roane County Grand Jury returned the indictments against Matthew Dotson, 26, and Amanda Dotson, 25, in the death of their son, Clifford Dotson.

An autopsy determined the cause of death as malnutrition.

"The child had lived most of its life in what appeared to be a car seat, and it only been fed one time a day," Sheriff Jack Stockton said in May. The child died at Fort Loudoun Medical Center.

Matthew Dotson blamed the death on his wife, according to a report from the sheriff's office.

Officers arrested Matthew Dotson Tuesday night in Jefferson City.
