MADISONVILLE (WATE) – A Madisonville man is facing charges after police say they found an elaborate marijuana garden in his backyard.
Officers say they arrested Billy Joe Vance, 28, after getting complaints from people in the area.
Investigators say Vance grew the pot in a small outhouse type building in his backyard. He had removed the roof of the building.
Police found several mirrors they believe he'd used to direct sunlight into the building without people noticing.
Once the plants grew to a certain height, he would transplant them into his vegetable garden.
Many of the pot plants were found in between the tomato plants.
"That would be the smartest way to do it, to camouflage it in between some tomato plants, and use a building," commented Det. David Dockery with Madisonville PD.
