Tennessee forestry officials caution people about outdoor burning

Posted:

NASHVILLE (WATE) - The state forestry department is warning people to be careful if they're doing any outdoor burning, including fireworks. Officials say a fire could quickly spark thanks to the recent dry weather.

Forestry crews are already monitoring two wildfires. One is in Monroe County near the Lake Heights area and another is in Blount County near Townsend. Foresters say there were three additional wildfires that have been put out.

At this point, the state does not have a burn ban in place, but remember to check with your local government. Burn permits are required year-round in Knox County.
