MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A Norris Lake boating accident involving two marina employees sent one to a hospital and left a customer's personal watercraft badly damaged.

The accident happened around midnight Sunday near Stardust Marina's harbor limits.

The workers took a joy ride on a tenant's PWC and hit a floating concrete sign that was on the line of "No-Wake" buoys, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

The operator was thrown onto the floating sign, knocked unconscious and sustained head injuries. The passenger wasn't injured.

The accident is being investigated by officers who say alcohol and speed were possible factors.

Neither man was wearing a personal flotation device. State law prohibits PWC use between sunset and sunrise and requires that everyone onboard wear a flotation device.
