JEFFERSON CITY (WATE) - A 20-year-old Dandridge man drowned Tuesday night in Cherokee Lake.

He was identified as Justin Wade Banks.

The Jefferson County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were called around 7:30 p.m. to New Black Oak Marina in Jefferson City. They recovered Banks' body.

Rescue squad officials say Banks was swimming with three other friends when he went under.

Rescue crews were on the scene within minutes, but Banks had already drowned.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors to the drowning.
