TANASI (WATE) - A motorcyclist from Ohio was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when he crashed on US 129 in Blount County.
According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Gotto, 68, of Akron, Ohio, lost control of his motorcycle near mile marker 6 on the curvy section of the highway known as "The Dragon."
The motorcycle slid into a deep ditch before hitting an embankment and a tree.
Gotto's wife was also on the motorcycle, but she refused treatment at the scene. Gotto was flown to UT Medical Center.
The couple was wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
