2 Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers hit in Sullivan County

BLOUNTVILLE (WATE) - Two Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers received minor injuries when they were struck by a driver Monday in Sullivan County.

The troopers were standing in the grass off the right side State Highway 75 when they were hit, according to THP spokeswoman Dalya Qualls.

A driver who saw the troopers began to slow down. However, the vehicle behind that one, driven by a 19-year-old man from Gray, couldn't slow in time. That driver locked his brakes, went off the right side of the road and hit the troopers.

Qualls says the troopers received scrapes and abrasions. They were treated at Holston Valley Medical Center.
