KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The last 11 people who were residents of Lakeshore Mental Health Institute officially became clients of Helen Ross McNabb Center on Monday.
McNabb will run a long-term support residential program on the campus and lease space from the state for five years, at $1.00 per year.
The residents were moved to the fifth floor of the Chota Building. They will stay there until renovations to Willow Cottage are complete, which has a goal for the end of the year.
The state was working to meet a June 30 deadline and McNabb agreed to take those 11 residents due to their particular needs.
The state placed 50 other long-term Lakeshore residents between January and this week, and 15 were transferred to other state regional mental health institutes.
