KNOXVILLE (WATE) - For the second day in a row, a local manufacturer made a massive donation aimed at fighting hunger in Knoxville.

Gerdau Steel of Knoxville donated 3,846 pounds of food Thursday to Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries.

KARM representative Tracy Hicks says the gigantic gift will feed those in need for many months.

"Last year, we served over 383,000 meals here at KARM in the emergency shelter alone, so this is a much needed part for our community to take care of those who are hungry and hurting here in Knoxville," Hicks said.

Between Gerdau's donation to KARM and its donation Wednesday to the Love Kitchen, the manufacturer has donated nearly 2 and a half tons of food in 48 hours.
