KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Fast moving thunderstorms moved through the Knoxville area Sunday night into early Monday morning, keeping crews busy for several hours with fires and power outages.

One of the fires started just before 12:30 a.m. at 341 Russfield Drive.

Crews on the scene told 6 News they believe lightning struck the home, hitting the ridge line of the structure.

The lightning didn't lead to any smoke or flames, but fire crews were on hand to make sure there wasn't any damage.

About 30 minutes earlier, crews were called to the Summit Medical Group building at 11808 Kingston Pike.

Officials say lightning possibly hit the building. There's currently no word on damage.

Fire crews say those two fires were part of at least half dozen calls about lightning hitting structures as the storms moved in.

At the height of the storm, more than 2,000 KUB customers were without electricity, mostly in the South Knoxville area.

Crews worked quickly to get the power back on.
