Knoxville man pleads guilty to tax evasion in Anderson County

CLINTON (WATE) - A Knoxville man pleaded guilty on June 29 to one felony count of tax evasion.

Jerry Lee Hatmaker, 65, admitting to falsifying records when he bought a boat in Anderson County. The fraud caused an underreported use tax of $2,050.50, according to the state Department of Revenue.

Hatmaker also pleaded guilty to felony counts of filing a false report and forgery and one misdemeanor count of perjury.

He was charged in December 2011.

Anderson County Criminal Court Judge Donald Elledge granted Hatmaker judicial diversion. He was placed on one year of supervised probation and ordered to make full restitution.
