GREENEVILLE (WATE) - Authorities believe the arrests of a boyfriend and girlfriend Tuesday have solved two recent robberies in Greeneville and Greene County.

Larry Shane Morgan, 36, of Chuckey, is charged with robbing Greeneville Federal Bank Monday morning. Investigators said the robber fired a shot during the incident.

The federal complaint against Morgan says $28,336.50 was stolen from the bank. The robber was given marked bills.

Morgan and his girlfriend, Kaylen L. Butcher, 19, of Limestone, who was also arrested Tuesday, are charged with robbing the Stop and Go Market on June 28. The male robber also fired a shot during that incident.

A Johnson City police officer spotted Morgan's black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at Fox Motel Tuesday. When Morgan walked out toward the truck and saw the officers he tried to run, but was caught.

The federal complaint says Morgan dropped a bag with a large amount of money in it.

Butcher told investigators that Morgan said he robbed the bank and gave her $60-$70 in cash.

Morgan was convicted in Virginia in 2000 of possession of explosives while using narcotics and possession of stolen firearms.

Morgan is expected to appear in federal court Thursday morning on his charges.

Butcher will appear in state court Thursday to face her charges.
