KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police say a man stabbed his brother early Wednesday morning at a Knoxville motel and they believe revenge was the motive.

Officers were called to the Morris Motel on Clinton Highway about 4:45 a.m.

Tony Good, 37, of Mohawk, had several severe cuts to his upper body.

Police were able to take the suspect, Good's brother Troy Allen Welch, 44, of Russellville, into custody as soon as they arrived.

A preliminary investigation found Good and Welch were in an alcohol-fueled physical altercation earlier in the evening.

Welch allegedly attacked Good while he slept.

Good was taken to UT Medical Center with what are described as life-threatening injuries.

Welch is charged with one count of aggravated assault. He's being held on a $10,000 bond.
