PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - Thursday's storms have many people thinking what they would do if they were caught outside when severe weather hits.

6 News stopped by Clabough's Campground in Pigeon Forge to find out what managers there tell their campers.

"Seek shelter when possible," said Clabough's Campground manager Stephen Russell. "Try to stay away from trees and power lines. Make sure if you leave secure your awning, secure stuff around your camp, so nothing blows away."

Russell said they have several structures for campers to go inside if there is a threat of severe weather.

On Thursday, several people went inside the campground office for shelter. Russell said one of the most important things to do is make sure you know what the weather is going to be like.

"Watch the weather," said camper Tony Worley, "Make sure you watch the weather alert, and make sure you pay attention to all of that."

For campers who do not have electricity, that is difficult to do.

"We didn't even know," said camper Cyrus Rettler. "We saw it coming in. We don't have a TV or radio."

Russell said he tries his best to warn all of his campers if there is a threat of severe weather.

He just hopes the will not have to go through something like that again anytime soon.
