LOS ANGELES (WATE) - Lady Vols head coach emeritus Pat Summitt received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award on Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
Summitt was honored during a live telecast on ESPN.
Former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning introduced a lengthy video profiling Summitt's life and career before introducing the former Lady Vols head coach.
"My son Tyler and I appreciate your support," Summitt said.
"And during the next time, that's the next challenge for me and Tyler. It is time to fight and I ask all of you to join me together. So we will win."
Summitt retired after being diagnosed with early on-set dementia, Alzheimer's type.
