KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was found guilty Thursday of a lesser charge of reckless homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Randolph Sims was charged with attempted second degree murder.

He was on trial for the shooting death of Adrianne Watson, 35.

Police say Watson was shot as she walked into Sims's apartment on Dayton Street, just off Western Avenue, after renting some movies.

Watson was shot in the chest by a shot gun when she walked through the door unannounced.

Criminal Court Judge Steve Sword will sentence Sims on August 30.
