BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WATE) - Five Tennessee football players have earned preseason recognition from SEC coaches, but quarterback Tyler Bray isn't one of them.
Vols junior receiver Da'Rick Rogers was named first team preseason All-SEC. Rogers led the conference with 1040 receiving yards in 2011. He made 67 catches.
Junior receiver Justin Hunter was named second team All-SEC while offensive lineman Dallas Thomas was named third team all-conference.
Thomas is also on the preseason watch list for the 2012 Outland Trophy which goes to the nation's best interior lineman.
On defense, senior defensive back Prentiss Waggner was named second team All-SEC while sophomore linebacker A.J. Johnson was named to the all-conference third team on defense.
Junior quarterback Tyler Bray escaped attention in preseason voting by coaches. Bray missed five games in 2011 with a broken thumb.
Tyler Wilson of Arkansas was named first-team All-SEC at quarterback. Georgia's Aaron Murray landed on the second team while Alabama's A.J. McCarron was named third team at quarterback.
Those quarterbacks finished 1-2-3 in passing and total offense last season.
