HUNTSVILLE (WATE) – Prosecutors say they have not stopped looking into the case of the Illinois mother who left her special needs daughter at a Caryville bar.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been brought into the case to help prosecutors consider possible charges against Eva Cameron.
Cameron has not been charged with abandoning her 19-year-old daughter Lynn in Tennessee before returning to Illinois, but officials say they are still looking to see if charges against the mother can be filed.
A statement released Friday by Scarlett W. Ellis, assistant district attorney general for the 8th Judicial District, says the TBI, Adult Protective Services, and the Caryville Police Department are helping "to determine if charges can be place [sic] in Tennessee against Eva Cameron."
Ellis's statement goes on to say investigators are talking to out-of-state witnesses and other state agencies in Tennessee and Illinois.
Algonquin, Ill. Police Chief Russell Laine told 6 News on Thursday his department is also looking into Eva Cameron's actions to determine if she violated any Illinois laws.
Lynn Cameron was left by her mother at Big Orange Bar, 184 John McGhee Boulevard in Caryville, on June 28.
She is now receiving care at the Michael Dunn Center in Kingston. A judge made her a ward of the state on Tuesday.
The Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in East Tennessee is working with the Department of Human Services to investigate the situation as well.
