KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The countdown to the Vols 2012 season opener is on and with a new ticketing option making it easier to purchase tickets for big games, fans are pumped for football to begin.

"The momentum of the clock is getting everyone excited," explained UT fan Dana Hill.

The Tennessee Triple Option allows fans to purchase three home games for just $150.

"You can pick either Florida or Alabama with a couple more games, so it's like your getting three games for the price of two. I'm definitely looking into that," said fan Mark Moreland, who was picking up some new gear for the season.

This will be the first year Florida and Alabama have been included in the mini-plan and fans say it's a great option for people who don't want to buy season tickets.

"I think it's a really good deal and will help more people come," Moreland said.

UT officials say the Tennessee Triple Option is way to give the customers what they want.

"It's a way to show customer appreciation and allow them to pick and choose," explained UT Athletics Department spokesperson Jimmy Stanton.

For Moreland and Hill, the Florida game is their top priority. And because neither are season ticket holders, it's also the only way to get tickets to Florida or Alabama.

"That's been one of the problems before. It's been difficult to get tickets, so we're looking forward to this," Hill explained.

And for local stores like Turkey Creek's Alumni Hall, business is picking up as customers prepare for the season.

"A lot of people are really excited as it gets closer. People are excited especially for those big games and having Missouri in the SEC for the first time is a big deal," said Jenna Snipes, the store's manager.

Snipes said fans are flocking to the store to pick up this season's new SEC gear.

In addition to the mini-plan, fans can also buy several single game options starting Monday, July 16, including the Vols' first ever SEC match up against Missouri.

The Vols' season kicks off on August 31 against NC State at the Georgia Dome.
