TOWNSEND - Eleven months after two men were struck and injured by a hit-and-run motorist, a Townsend woman is now behind bars and facing charges in the wreck.

Townsend police arrested Amy Shondale Myers, 32, Sunday. She is being held in the Blount County Detention Facility on a $9,600 bond.

Myers is charged with two counts of attempted vehicular homicide, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with death or injury, and driving under the influence.

She is also charged with two counts of violating the Jeff Roth Three-foot Law, the law named for a Blount County man who was struck and killed by a pickup truck driver in 2006 as he rode his bicycle.

Police say they pieced together evidence to show Myers struck and injured Franklin R. Woody and Barry W. Crowson on August 11, 2011, as they were bicycling on State Highway 73. Both men received multiple injuries.

The investigation showed Myers was involved a short time later in a second wreck in which she lost control of her car and struck a utility pole. She was injured in the second wreck.
