Fire ban lifted in Daniel Boone National Forest

Posted:

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) - The Daniel Boone National Forest has lifted its ban on campfires and other open flames outside developed recreation areas.

The forest issued the ban last month because of drought conditions but decided to lift it because there has been some recent rainfall over the region. Deputy Forest Supervisor Bill Lorenz says the public should still use caution as rain levels remain below normal.

A separate ban prohibiting fireworks in the forest remains in effect.
