KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knoxville Transportation Authority is proposing to eliminate a route in west Knoxville. A public hearing will be held to consider the change.
KAT will hold the public hearing on Thursday, July 26, on the proposed elimination of Route 101X, called the Cedar Bluff Express.
The route travels from west Knoxville to stops downtown and the University of Tennessee campus.
KAT officials say the route has consistently ranked among the lowest for ridership in the last 24 months.
Making matters worse, the Park and Ride location where the route terminates in west Knoxville, on Executive Park Drive, will be closed on Sept. 30.
The public hearing will be held at 3 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building, 400 Main Street.
Comments can also be made by calling (865) 637-3000 or through the "Contact us" page at katbus.com.
If the route is eliminated, the change will take effect on Sept. 30.
Officials say routes 102X (Farragut Express) or 11 (Kingston Pike) will remain as alternate routes for passengers of the Cedar Bluff Express.
