KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The manager of a Knoxville hotel says customer ratings in travel websites like tripadvisor.com are important to the hotel industry. Her hotel was recently the beneficiary of positive reviews.

Downtown Knoxville's Hampton Inn has been honored by tripadvisor.com for high customer reviews, receiving an average score of 4.5 out of 5 and placing it in the top 10 of all hotels in the U.S.

Anita Lane, manager of the downtown hotel, says hotel staff check their ratings every day.

"We're big on transparency," she said. "We really like hearing from our customers for the good and sometimes the not-so-good."

Lane says the downtown area is improving and that competition among several good hotels makes them all better.
