Pineville weighing annexation of state park lodge, restaurant

PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - An Bell County city is weighing whether to annex the Pine Mountain State Park Lodge and a neighboring restaurant with an eye toward collecting occupational and restaurant taxes.

Pineville Mayor Sherwin Rader told The Daily News that the state and the city have been in contact about possibly bringing the lodge and restaurant into the city limits.

Despite efforts in 1989 and 1993, the lodge has never been annexed. Rader says no mapping or surveying has been done.

If the lodge is annexed, no homes will be affected. The proposal will only include the lodge and restaurant. The move could help Pineville acquire an occupational tax from the lodge. A restaurant tax would also be collected.
