KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Members of Faith Promise Church in Knoxville got a chance Sunday to see what poverty looks like first-hand.

Two trailers containing replicas of living conditions of real children currently in poverty were set up outside the church.

A group called Compassion International constructed the scenes to changes people's perceptions about what poverty looks like.

Several hundred visitors toured the trailers.

Church members say the exhibit not only informed them about others, but made them reflect on their own lives.

"It just it teaches us to be really thankful for what we have. We're super fortunate. These kids have nothing and they feel like when they have a beat up dirty old doll," said Savannah Cates.

Compassion International is touring with the trailers in 35 cities across the U.S.
