KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A pickup truck and a car from Michigan collided Monday morning on Interstate 40 in West Knoxville, sending both vehicles off the road.
According to the police department's preliminary investigation, a Toyota Camry and a Ford F-150 pickup truck, were traveling east on I-40 when for an unknown reason the vehicles crashed into each other.
Both vehicles traveled off the interstate, but stayed within the interstate fence.
Emergency crews had difficulty reaching the passengers in the Toyota and
clearing the scene because of thick vegetation where it came to a stop.
The Toyota flipped onto its top with three people inside. All three were taken to UT Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
The Ford had one occupant who was taken to Park West Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the Toyota is Neverra Craig, 41, of Toledo, Ohio. The Ford driver is Wendell Taylor, 68, of Knoxville.
One eastbound lane of the interstate was blocked because of the wreck.
The cause of the crash is still undetermined.
