KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville's place on the PGA's Web.com Tour is safe.

Tournament organizers announced a new three-year commitment by Pilot to continue as the presenting sponsor and by Fox Den Country Club to continue as the host site for the News Sentinel Open.

The deal puts the Knoxville tournament back on solid ground after it nearly faced extinction three years ago.

"To be able to come back every year and have some consistency and have some familiarity is huge," said PGA Tour veteran Jason Gore.

"I think it's great for this tour too to have stalwart cities that we come back to every year."

Organizers also announced former British Open and PGA Champion John Daly will return to play the New Sentinel Open for a third straight year.

Knoxville is one of the founding stops on the PGA's developmental tour-- which has been known as the Ben Hogan Tour, The Nike Tour, The Buy.com Tour and the Nationwide Tour.

The first Knoxville even was played in 1990.

The Open will be played Aug. 23-26 at Fox Den.
