GREENEVILLE (WATE) - A woman filed a federal lawsuit that accuses a former Greene County sheriff's deputy of sexually assaulting her last Christmas after a traffic stop.

The complaint filed July 18 in federal court in Knoxville claims ex-Deputy Robert Morgan assaulted the woman on December 25, 2011 near the 107 Cutoff in Greeneville.

Morgan allegedly pulled over the woman and her male driver on suspicion they were driving under the influence.

Morgan is accused of taking the driver to a field and returning to the woman. He allegedly called her a prostitute, robbed her of money from a Christmas Eve paycheck, took the driver from the scene then drove her to a secluded location where he sexually assaulted her.

The complaint also accuses Morgan of pulling the woman over in February. He allegedly apologized for assaulting her and gave her some money.

The woman is seeking $3 million in damages to cover her lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Greene County is also named as a defendant in the complaint.

The complaint claims Morgan cracked a man's skull with a metal flashlight in a past incident. It says a video camera was placed in his patrol car to monitor his interactions with the public.

Morgan, who is also a former Greene County commissioner, resigned from the sheriff's office patrol division on March 8. He had been on the force since 1998.

He was reported in March as the focus of a federal investigation.
