HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The Tennessee Valley Authority says five people were convicted of the theft of cultural artifacts from land managed by TVA.

TVA says its investigators saw Joey Willis of Tuscumbia bringing up Native American artifacts while diving at Pickwick Lake in June. He was found guilty of a misdemeanor violation of the Archaeological Resource Protection Act and order to pay more than $250 in fines and penalties.

Don Hawkins of Monteagle, Tenn., was convicted of a misdemeanor after investigators saw him digging for artifacts at Guntersville Reservoir. He was fined $500, plus court costs.

Three people from Stevenson - Deborah Arnold, Darius Hutchens and James Owens - were each ordered to pay more than $250 for digging along the shoreline at Guntersville.
