KINGSTON (WATE) - A Harriman couple is suing a bar owner and four others for $3 million over their son's death following an altercation in July 2011.

Roy Lee and Rebecca A. Harvey filed the complaint Monday in Roane County Circuit Court.

Their son, David Lee Harvey, died outside the Big Orange Grill and Pub on July 22, 2011. He backed into Eric Glen Gallaher's vehicle that night in the parking lot.

Although Harvey apologized, according to the lawsuit, Gallaher hit him in the head more than once and knocked him to the ground.

The suit says Gallaher, along with Derek Lynn Gallaher, Devin Lee Bertram and Anderson Treavin Wright drug Harvey to a grassy area and robbed him. He later died.

Eric Glen Gallaher was charged with reckless homicide.

The Harveys are suing all four accused of robbing their son, along with pub owner Grover Norton.

Their suit says the pub was the scene of numerous complaints about criminal activity and fights. It was in operation until the day after Harvey's death.

The couple is seeking $750,000 in compensatory damages and $2,250,000 in punitive damages.
