BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Knox County (Ky.) sheriff's investigators say a hidden camera caught a woman making false reports about threats to her.
According to WYMT-TV in Hazard, authorities charged 36-year-old Rebecca Ward with falsely reporting an incident.
After she made repeated calls about a man threatening her, deputies set up a hidden camera across the street from her home. When Ward called and said she had shot at a man trying to break in, investigators reviewed the camera disc and confronted Ward, who admitted she made up the threats and wrote threatening letters herself.
Ward declined an interview with the station.
Deputy Claude Hudson said Ward never gave a reason. Hudson said Ward's boyfriend lives in her home, but they don't think he was involved in the false claims.
