KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Strawberry Plains man is in jail after police say he wrecked two vehicles he had carjacked Wednesday.
Farris Jay Dobbins, 19, was arrested as he attempted to get a ride from the back of a third vehicle.
The first incident happened around 4:40 a.m. when Javier Castillo, of Charlotte, N.C., was filling his car at a gas station on Asheville Highway.
Knoxville police say Dobbins approached Castillo and asked if he had a bumper jack. When Castillo said no, Dobbins allegedly pulled a handgun and ordered Castillo and his mother, who was sitting in the car, from the vehicle.
After fleeing in Castillo's car, Dobbins wrecked it on W.A. Brown Road in Kodak.
When a man driving a truck came upon the wreck at about 7:30 a.m., he offered to help Dobbins.
Sevier County sheriff's deputies say Dobbins jumped into Bobby Hillard's truck and drove off.
Dobbins allegedly fired a shot at Hillard as he fled.
Hillard suffered minor injuries, but was not shot.
When Dobbins wrecked Hillard's truck a short distance later he fled on foot.
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies caught Dobbins as he was hopping a ride in the back of another truck.
He is now is being held in the Sevier County Jail awaiting arraignment on several charges, including aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
