NASHVILLE (WATE) - Tennessee head football coach Derek Dooley called quarterback Tyler Bray's alleged involvement in a bottle-tossing vandalism incident an example of "silly prepubescent behavior."

Dooley indicated his star quarterback will not be suspended.

"It's a silly incident and it shouldn't have happened with a little better judgement," Dooley said Thursday during a UT sports picnic at Lipscomb University.

"We probably wouldn't be talking about it if it wasn't Tyler Bray and he's wasn't the quarterback at Tennessee," he added. "That's just understanding that role and how big it is."

Bray was connected to a Knoxville Police Department investigation about a damaged car windshield at The Landings apartments near downtown Knoxville.

An eyewitness said she saw Bray and another person throwing bottles from their balcony.

No charges were filed after police say Bray reached out and offered to pay for damages.

Dooley said Bray's situation with the football team will be handled internally.

Dooley was disappointed, but tried to spin some humor onto the issue.

"Obviously, his accuracy is not where it needs to be because he missed the trash can," Dooley said.

The Vols start practice on Aug. 3.

Bray begins his junior season when the Vols play North Carolina St. at the Georgia Dome on Aug. 31.
