NEW TAZEWELL (WATE) - A special benefit was held Saturday for two Claiborne County teenagers hurt in a car crash.
Jared Parker, 18, was driving in a car with his sister Jordyn Parker, 16, when he lost control of the vehicle back in June on Highway 25E in Grainger County. Since that accident, both have remained in serious condition in a rehabilitation center in Knoxville.
On Saturday bands played and money was raised for their medical costs. Along with seven bands, organizers sold food and t-shirts to raise money. The event was held at Claiborne County High School. Jared graduated from the high school in May, and Jordyn will be a senior this fall.
"Jared and Jordyn are two amazing children. They are a blast to be around, free spirits. Just great all around American teenagers. They would be here helping if it was someone else in this position, just put everybody else above themselves," said family friend Teresa Goins.
Anyone who would still like to donate can still do so online at a website set up for the Parkers.
