KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was injured Sunday after crashing a motorcycle in South Knox County.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office has corrected an earlier report saying Steven Perry, 31, was killed in the crash.

Perry and another man were riding motorcycles just on Burnett Creek Road around 10:00 a.m. when the wreck happened.

Investigators say Perry passed the other motorcyclist, then lost control in a curve and went down a 30-foot embankment before hitting some trees.

Perry was taken to UT Medical Center. The hospital is investigating how the mistaken report of his death happened.

Officers say speed was a factor in the wreck.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle Perry was driving, a 2001 Suzuki GSX, was stolen.

Perry was also driving on a revoked license.
