ALCOA (WATE) - McGhee Tyson Airport officials celebrated a milestone Sunday. The airport turned 75 years old.

In honor of the birthday. a living history day was held, featuring actors portraying important figures in history who helped move the airport forward.

Organizers say the event was a great way to show the community how the airport changed throughout the years and how it has shaped the Knoxville area.

"The airport is more than just planes landing," said airport spokesperson Becky Huckaby. "It's about people. It's about 'lifetstones,' memories that are made here."
