KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A former guard with Knox County's juvenile detention center was arrested Monday on a charge of assaulting his adult and child neighbors.

Carl Eugene Taylor, 29, was taken into custody in connection to an incident on July 15 outside his home at 1423 Dutch Valley Drive.

A court affidavit says Taylor was outside when he got into an argument with his neighbors, Teaun Maurice Winton and Shara Scott, over Scott's son.

Winton told police he put his hand on Taylor's shoulder and asked him to step to the side and talk.

Taylor is accused of pushing Winton's chest, which caused him to fall, then charging at him. The men fell down a hill, according to the police report. Winton hit his head on a rock and received a small cut.

Taylor is accused of continuing to hit Winton and pushing the boy to the ground.

He's charged with two counts of simple assault, a misdemeanor. Taylor was booked into the Knox County Detention Center and released on bonds totaling $1,600.

He resigned Tuesday morning from the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Service Center. Taylor worked there as a corrections officer for four and a half years.
