ALCOA (WATE) - Law enforcement officers ended a standoff peacefully Tuesday night with a man in an Alcoa home.

Officers thought Michael Anthony Pidgeon, 56, had a gun in a home in the area of West Watt Street and North Hall Road, but he was unarmed when he was arrested around 6:00 p.m.

Pidgeon will be charged with domestic abuse.

The situation began around 2:15 p.m. with a call about a domestic incident.

His wife told 6 News he put a gun to her head at one point.

Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Pidgeon is being held at a Blount County jail on outstanding traffic warrants. Domestic assault charges may also be filed, pending an investigation.

Blount County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Marian O'Briant said a SWAT team helped Alcoa police because the police department doesn't have a SWAT team.
