CARYVILLE (WATE) - Interstate 75 in Campbell County could completely reopen by mid-August, Tennessee Department of Transportation officials said Tuesday.

A second lane of I-75 South could reopen by August 4, weather permitting.

Once the lane is reopened, one of the I-75 northbound lanes will close weekdays while workers finish milling, paving, marking and doing other work.

Officials said if all goes according to plan, the roadway could reopen to its pre-landslide capacity with both lanes open in both directions by August 13, more than a month before the expected completion date of September 28.

The roadway was partially closed earlier this year after the embankment supporting the road gave way beneath it.
