PITTMAN CENTER (WATE) - Sevier County sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Tuesday afternoon in the Little Pigeon River.
The sheriff's office got a call at 4:30 p.m. saying a person rafting the stream found the body in the water under the Grassy Branch Bridge at the Pittman Community Center.
The man's identity has not been released and the cause of death has not been determined. The sheriff's office said there were no signs of foul play at the scene, but the case is still under investigation.
The Sevier County Rescue Squad recovered the boy and took it to LeConte Medical Center for an autopsy.
Investigators impounded a vehicle that was found a short distance from where the body was recovered.
