PITTMAN CENTER (WATE) - A North Carolina man whose body was found Tuesday in the Little Pigeon River died accidentally, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the body of David A. Cook, 56, of Salisbury, North Carolina, was found by a rafter in the water under the Grassy Branch Bridge at the Pittman Community Center.

The autopsy at the University of Tennessee Forensics Center found no indication of foul play.

The investigation found that Cook jumped from the bridge, hitting the rocks in shallow water. Cook's Dodge van was also found nearby.

Authorities in Salisbury, North Carolina helped the sheriff's office with the investigation.
